The Okinawa Postal Museum opened in 1994 （ to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the Okinawa Postal Service in 1994 ） and was renamed the Okinawa Postal Museum on October 1, 2007 （ 2007 ）. The museum exhibits in an easy-to-understand manner the history of postal and communication services in Okinawa from the Ryukyu Kingdom period, through the Ryukyu Domain period, to the postwar period ・. It exhibits Ryukyu stamps issued during the 24 years of Ryukyu government （ from 1948 to 1972 ）, as well as other materials related to postal services in Okinawa.
