About the Okinawa Postal Service Reference Center
On the second floor of the Naha Central Post Office, the history of postal service and communications from the Ryukyu Dynasty to wartime and postwar periods is introduced and the role the postal service has played in the region is exhibited.
The Okinawa Postal Museum opened in 1994 ( 1994 ) to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Okinawa Postal Service. 2007 ( 2007 ) On October 1, 2007, the name was changed to the Okinawa Postal Data Center The museum is located in the center of the Ryukyu Kingdom. The museum exhibits the history of postal and communication services in Okinawa from the Ryukyu Kingdom period through the Ryukyu Domain period to the postwar period ・ in an easy-to-understand manner. It exhibits Ryukyu stamps issued during the 24 years of Ryukyu government ( from 1948 to 1972 ), as well as other materials related to postal services in Okinawa.
